Doug Roggenbauer, a father of two boys (ages 16 and 21) was involved in a home explosion on
July 22, 2016. As a result of this accident he received sever 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 35% of
his body. Doug has undergone several skin graft surgeries to his arms and legs. He has been
and will continue to go through rehabilitation and strengthen with physical and speech therapy
for quite some time, with an emphasis of ongoing occupational therapy. Doug was in Columbia
St Mary’s burn center in Milwaukee for over 40 days, with more than 30 of them in critical
condition and in an induced coma.
Doug will be unable to return to work before the first of the year. He will continue to have
further medical expenses post discharge for follow up medical care for a minimum of 1 to 2
years for post burn care. Doug’s insurance does not cover a lot of his medical expenses, he has
a high deductible and high out of pocket maximum and without your support this financial toll
will be a devastating blow to his recovery.
The “Carving out Hope for Doug” Fund will help assist with medical and living expenses. To
help raise the funds, we are being assisted by Community Benefit Tree, Inc., a nonprofit 501 (c)
3 organization. Any contributions you send to Community Benefit Tree on behalf of the “Carving
out Hope for Doug” Fund will be tax deductible. At this time, we ask for any contributions
you can make to the “Carving out Hope for Doug” fund or in-kind donations of gas, grocery,
clothes gift cards. Each donation will be greatly appreciated and recognized on Community
